The east coast of the island could not be more different from the west and south. Big waves attract bodysurfing and small beaches drowned under rocky cliffs create beautiful photogenic scenery. Low visitor numbers and plenty of privacy are a bonus.

Perhaps the nicest beach in this part of Babrados is Bottom Bay Beach near the easternmost point of Barbados.
Swimming and beach facilities
Bottom Bay Beach impresses with its fabulous scenery with several slender coconut palms, cliffs about 15 metres high and fine white sand.
The beach is suitable for expert swimmers or simply for sunbathing. The waves here tend to be big and in the middle part of the beach you can be swept out to sea by quite strong currents.
You won't find any amenities at Bottom Bay Beach except for the occasional vendors selling coconut milk shakes and small souvenirs. So always bring plenty of supplies, there are no shops or restaurants within walking distance of the beach.
Transportation to the beach
The easiest way to get to Bottom Bay Beach is by car. The asphalt Bottom Bay Road will take you up over the cliffs, where you're just a few steps down and by the sea. You can park for free anywhere there is space.
The nearest bus stop is about 800 metres from the beach (walking route map: google.com/maps), but the connection is not very frequent (about 1-2 connections per hour at irregular intervals).
